Panasonic Heating & Cooling Solutions and British Gas have partnered to provide servicing and maintenance for Panasonic’s Aquarea Air Source Heat Pumps that are installed across the UK.

The partnership, marked at ISH 2025 in Frankfurt on 17 March,  is designed to ensure homeowners benefit from British Gas’ network of qualified and experienced engineers who are trained to keep the Aquarea heat pumps running efficiently and reliably nationwide.

Enrique Vilamitjana, managing director, Panasonic Heating & Cooling Solutions Europe, said that as the UK makes significant progress towards net-zero emissions, homeowners require a reliable support system.

“This partnership merges innovation, scale and expertise to ensure that Aquarea air source heat pumps remain the gold standard in home heating year after year,” Vilamitjana said.

“Partnering with one of the UK’s most trusted home serving and maintenance providers guarantees that homeowners have access to the highest quality service, and one of the UK’s leading networks of heating engineers, instilling confidence in the transition towards sustainable heating.”

British Gas engineers have undergone comprehensive, hands-on training, equipping them with skills needed for maintenance, diagnostics and repairs of the Panasonic Aquarea Heat Pumps. These engineers are also trained to ensure systems operate efficiently, enabling homeowners to reduce energy costs.

Vilamitjana claimed Panasonic’s technology “leads the way” in air source heat pump development and said the company wants to ensure its customers can access “reliable and experienced service engineers no matter where they are in the country”.

“This agreement underscores our commitment to ensuring our customers enjoy the full benefits of our heating solutions, with the reassurance that comes from knowing they will have the support for future servicing and maintenance.”

Mark Berryman, managing director, British Gas Services, said: “Our partnership with Panasonic allows us to leverage our extensive network of skilled engineers to ensure homeowners across the UK can benefit from cutting-edge heat pump technology.

“By combining our expertise with Panasonic’s innovative products, we are enhancing the efficiency and reliability of home heating systems, contributing to a greener future for all”.

In February, Panasonic announced Aquarea Loop, a new decentralised water-to-air heat pump.

It operates with a low-temperature central water loop of 20-30° year-round, providing efficient and sustainable heating and cooling for indoor spaces. It also features a compact indoor unit, with a depth of 140mm and available in three models.

Its built-in DC inverter compressor and sealed refrigeration circuit both utilise the natural refrigerant R290 to enable the unit to perform as an evaporator in heating mode and a condenser in cooling mode.
