- EV drivers can now collect Nectar points on Sainsbury’s Smart Charge service
- They will be rewarded one point on every £1 spent
- The launch coincided with Sainsbury’s fiftieth Smart Charge location
Electric vehicle (EV) owners who use Sainsbury’s ultra-rapid EV Smart Charge charging service can now collect Nectar points.
Drivers can collect one Nectar point for every pound spent and is the first EV charging service in the UK to offer a national loyalty scheme.
Smart Charge is the supermarket’s 100% renewable energy EV charging network and has more than 400 charging bays, as of June 2024. The service has been popular among drivers, with more than 65,000 hours of charging recorded so far.
The launch coincided with the launch of Sainsbury’s fiftieth Smart Charge EV charging location, with 12 bays now available at Sainsbury’s London Enfield.
Patrick Dunne, director of property, procurement & EV ventures, Sainsbury’s told Zapmap: “Today marks a huge milestone for our Smart Charge business as we become the first EV charging provider to offer customers loyalty benefits from a UK leading loyalty programme, Nectar.
“Rolling out across June, customers using any of our 400 Smart Charge bays across the country will now be able to benefit from collecting Nectar points to spend on their favourite brands.
“Our Enfield store is in a popular residential area of North London and near main roads, making it an ideal spot for our fiftieth location.”
